Stone Guard Coatings was founded by Kyle Schmerse, a Salt Lake City native with a relentless work ethic and a simple philosophy: show up, do it right, and stand behind your work.
Kyle started SGC in 2026 with one goal in mind, to build a concrete coating company that Utahns could actually trust. No shortcuts. No overselling. Just honest work, premium materials, and floors that last.

HOW SGC GOT STARTED
Stone Guard Coatings was born out of a simple frustration, too many homeowners were getting subpar floors from companies that overpromised and underdelivered. Kyle saw an opportunity to do it differently.
Starting from the ground up in 2026, Kyle built SGC around the belief that every customer deserves a contractor who actually cares about the outcome. Someone who takes the time to properly prepare the surface, uses materials that are built to last, and backs their work with a warranty that means something.
What started as one man and a dream is quickly becoming one of the most trusted names in concrete coatings across the Wasatch Front, and it's only just beginning.
